Help With Scrapbook Baby Book Cover

Lisa asks…
pregnancy scrapbook?
I want to make a scrapbook of my pregnancy and end it with a picture of my baby when she is born. I have many ultrasound pictures I want to put in there but I don’t want to put the glue dots or whatever adhesive I have directly on the ultrasound. Any ideas on how I can cover the ultrasounds with maybe a plastic (obviously see thru) then put the glue on the plastic&then into the book??
The Joann Fabric link didn’t work but I know what you are talking about. I think I might even have some photo corners. Thanks so far.

What you want to buy is called a keepsake envelope. The come in several sizes and I have used them a lot in my scrapbooks. You put the envelope on your page and then slip the picture (or other item that you don’t want to glue down) inside the envelope. I have used these for double sided items that I wouldn’t want to glue directly on the page. I’ve also put coins in them, hair from my baby’s first haircut, and other little trinkets that won’t glue onto a scrapbook page. One brand of these envelopes is made by the company 3M under the label of Scrapbook Adhesive’s. Below is a link.

You can usually find these at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn’s (if they have a decent scrapbook section), and any scrapbook store.
Something else you might want to consider … If the Ultrasound is printed on that old style fax paper, the image is going to fade a lot over the next few years. I strongly suggest scanning it and then reprinting it on photo paper. A friend of mine didn’t do this and her picture was completely faded beyond recognition within two years. What a disappointment! My children’s ultrasounds were both on regular photo paper … But I still scanned them so I would have digital copies backed up on my computer hard drive. Ultrasounds are one of the few photos we have to document our pregnancies. I think preserving them is really important!
I hope this helps you!!!

How do I decide what to use? I have over 60 pics. I posted this in hobbies & crafts and didn’t get answers so I figured I’d try here.
Thanks!
I can’t post a link with the pics. Not sure how to do that anyway. My husband will be home soon. I’ll ask him. But I just thought that copies of ultrasounds would come out crappy. I’ll try one maybe just to see. 3 of the many pics I have are 8 1/2″x11″ so that will be interesting to find something to cover those with.
Thanks so far.

Hi – congrats on your pregnancy! Sounds like you have a cute project idea.
First, let me just tell you that HEAT lamination will damage typical ultrasound pictures. Doesn’t sound like you want to do anything permanent to them, so you probably wouldn’t laminate them anyway – but I wanted to warn you just in case!
My mom always uses this stuff – can’t even tell you the brand name – but it is adhesive and it is blue. It is sticky, pliable stuff, but it isn’t permanent – you can pick it right off. She hangs pics of our kids on her kitchen cabinets with it. Why not try this stuff for your pictures? It doesn’t do damage, so I think it would be a great option. You should be able to find it in a craft store or perhaps in the stationary aisle of your local store.
As for your baby shower pics, use the best ones! Chances are, all 60 aren’t GREAT – so use the ones that are. Start in chronological order, from the beginning of your shower to the end.
HOPE THIS HELPS, at least a little. GOOD LUCK, enjoy your pregnancy, and best wishes for a pain-free labor and smooth delivery!

Jenny asks…
What cool things did you do for your baby’s first birthday party? and what do you think of my ideas?
My son is turning one August 18th and I want to start planning what all I’m going to do for the party. I know that he wont know what’s going on or anything but I would still like it to be very special so that later on in his life he(or I, since he’s a boy) can enjoy the video and pictures.
I was thinking I could buy construction paper, paint, stickers, markers, scrapbook stuff, etc. etc. and everyone could decorate one, have it be a cool way to make a guest book. Use a three hole punch and put it in a binder along with pictures or something for memories of who all came to his first birthday.
I could make one just for him, his daddy could, grandma’s, grandpa’s, aunts, uncle… Something more personal than just a Halmark card.
I’m going with a frog theme because he always has his legs up next to his body like a little frog. I’ve called him “my little frog” since he was born so frogs have always just stuck. I buy him frog stuffed animals, clothes with frogs on them, and he has a giant frog bath toy holder that sticks to the wall so a frog theme is special to me.
I’m going to make a frog cake for everyone else to eat then buy a little cake with a frog on it to use for his smash cake.
Green decorations, plates, napkins, table cover, cups, balloons.
Maybe green juice and call it “Bug Juice”
At Hobby Lobby I saw little rubber frogs that I could use as decoration and then give out when people start leaving.
I’d like other ideas or suggestions of what to do. I don’t really know what all to do at a first birthday party…
Is it just show up mingle a little bit, have cake, then do presents and that’s it?
What did you all do for your child’s first birthday?
Thank you everyone!!! I appreciate all your answers ![]()

I had it at home with some family and friends. Cake and conversing pretty much covered it. There were decorations, a Dinosaur theme, but that was it. My son was running around at 12 months and never sat still. He played with my friend’s kids who were 3, 5, 8, and 13.
