Help With Personalized Baby Book Gifts

Maria asks…
got ideas for homemade gifts?
I’m asking for not just my own use but to help out everyone. I remember last year as Christmas was drawing near lots of people were asking for homemade Christmas gift ideas. So I’m posting this question now so I can refer back to it. This way I get a collection of my own and others. I’m doing this for my personal inspirations and for others. If you have a project, please post it here, include details and or links. Thanks, here are a few of mine.
Christmas Ornaments:
You can get Ceramic ornaments at most craft stores for like a buck each, giving a set would make a great gift. make sure you have a very fine tipped brush it makes for cleaner lines, I’d also get a thicker one for filling in larger areas. You can get the paints individually or if you only plan on using them for this project you can get little sets for much cheaper. – I used these last year as gift tags too
Piggy Banks- Unfinished piggy banks are a great gift for a toddler or baby. It’s something they can have for years to come and the parents love that you did this just for their little one.
Decoupaging- This is my go to gift for a lot of people this year. You can basically decoupage anything. Decoupaging is a paper and glue craft. You can pic a picture or pattern and put it on anything (I’m working on a tray right now) if painting needs to be done do it before applying paper and make sure it’s dry. You can either use a product called modge podge but I’ve been using plain white glue diluted. I’ve been working on a tray with a Santa picture I cut out of and old gift bag, you could also use old Christmas cards. Use your glue solution to glue the picture down to your object, make sure you have it even and flat. then start applying the glue solution over the picture and the object and make sure you apply it evenly. It makes everything look foggy but it dries clear and glossy. let the coats dry and continue to apply coats until the picture and object are even or fairly even. ‘m also making candy dishes using Christmas designed scrap booking paper when it hits the stores. Also a great mom gift use baby pictures!
Santa Trays- Yes trays are my go to gift this year. I’m painting ones for my friends families and putting on them where Santas cookies go, where the milk goes where the carrots go stuff like that and personalizing it (huge brownie points there)
A Scarf- I have never successfully knit in my life and had to teach myself. Well actually I’m learning from a website- http://www.aokcorral.com/how2oct2003.htm
So far so good
Bird feeder- If you’re handy build one from scratch, if not, well you can buy unfinished ones.
Chocolates or cookies- cookies, there are a million and 1 recipes out there. As for chocolates you could get molds from a craft store, you could also just melt chocolate and dip spoons in, wrap them in plastic (after they’ve dried) and tie them up with a ribbon, you can get 4 spoons for a buck @ some dollar stores or walmart
-I may add more later, please post your ideas ![]()
Nick I didn’t post this question for people like you who only go to it for the points. If you read it at all you’d see, it’s not a question really. It’s a tool for future use, you should be able to relate. As for it’s length it’s really not as long as it seems you check out the idea I posted, then there are details. Thanks for coming by to earn your points ![]()
Just for Jesus you could make a great mobile for a baby, or set up a centerpiece with that, thanks!
thank Maria, feel free to fall back on it later. If you have a bunch of ideas please share them ![]()
thanks Paul, glad you like it. If you happen upon any other ideas bring em back. Also I’d like to point out one major place I’ve been getting ideas is Micheal’s website
Pretty sure lexi didn’t read my explanation. Lexi, this is so at some point when some one DOES ask this in the future, because they will, I/we can fall back on it
also wanted to tell all the decoupaged tray is lovely!

These are fabulous ideas! I decided to make counted-cross stitch ornaments. I have already purchased a couple pattern books.
My daughter said that she has several children photo albums for baby. I suggested that she make one of the books for a prayer book for the baby. When the mommy leads the baby to say “God Bless Aunt Sharon,” there will be a picture of Aunt Sharon and her husband. This would help the baby to know who is praying for. It is also a way to make it a phone book for toddlers and older kids, so that they will know how to dial a relative in an emergency.
A larger photo album with pictures, addresses and phone numbers is good for someone who requires large print, or has some dementia and needs some help in finding relatives phone numbers.
Have fun collecting ideas. I will save this page!

James asks…
gift baskets for Christmas for his family?
I’ve been with my guy for a fairly decent length of time now. I get on with his family great, they’re fantastic. I don’t get along so well with my own family, and don’t buy presents for anyone but my parents and my children (and my guy of course). So this year I was thinking, since his family have been so good to me, that I should get them a little something. Would it be a good idea to make some personalised gift baskets? His sister is about to have a baby, so I was thinking a pamper/beauty basket for her to make her feel good after the pregnancy. His parents (especially his dad) love wine (not alcoholics, just appreciate good wine), so I was thinking of getting 2 wine glasses personalised with their names and presenting them in a bucket with a nice bottle of wine? His brother loves movies so I was thinking a gift card for our local cinemas, some microwave popcorn, soda cans and a dvd. His young neice is a huge Justin Beiber fan, but I’ve already bought her his new book.
Do you think this would be ok? Or is it too impersonal/cheap? I really want to show them how much I’ve appreciated them.

Since she likes reading and sleeping, you could buy her one of those little book lights that clip onto your book so you can read in the dark- like in your bedroom at night or in the car.
You could buy a blanket or a cute pillow to go with it.
Or maybe to make the book light a little more personal, you could paint her name on it, use stickers to write her name, or decorate it in some other way.
You could also buy her a bin/storage unit of some sort for her to keep her stuffed animals in if she has them all over her room. There are some pretty inexpensive ones.
A bean bag chair would also be a fun place for her to read…
Good luck, it’s very sweet of you to buy her a gift
