I want to make a BOARD book for my baby with my own photgraphs. each page i want to say something like, “bananas, cherios, mom, dad, ball. ect” then i can take pictures of these items around the house. i am looking for a website that i does this for me. all i do is send in the pictures and what i want on each page. i dont want to make one myself because she will eat the pages. i want a good quality one. The book needs to have cardboard pages or atleaste some kind of baby proof pages. can anyone help?

You could go to Microsoft.com through the “Add more templates” option in Word and do a search for “baby.” It will pull up all kinds of cute borders. They even have cut-out paper dolls. After that, find a thinner type of cardboard (the type they use for gift boxes) of equal size and paste your paper, scraps, pictures, etc. On the cardboard. You can probably find this at a scrapbook store. There are all sorts of them sprouting up all over the place. If not, Target actually has a scrapbook aisle.
Once you’re done decorating the pages, take them to a local Kinkos (copy place) and have them laminated, including the cover. Punch holes in the sides for bindings and tie the book together with nylon cord. Use a lighter to melt it together so that it doesn’t come loose and become a choking hazard. This should make it look cute and baby proof.

Jenny asks…
How can I make a baby book without mentioning religion?
My mother is having twins and today I found out their genders, both girls. I want to make two hand made baby books but religion often comes into play in ones I’ve seen before. I am a convert to Judaism and my mother is a devout Christian and wants me to mention Jesus in places where I’d normally use G-d. Is there a way to make a non-religious baby book that will make us both happy?

If you’re making it homemade, just use baby themes throughout. Should be easy.

Title for my baby’s photo book?
Hi, I have a ten month old baby girl and I am preparing a photo book for her…so just curious as what should be the title of the book…any suggestions will be appreciated..Thanks in advance.

Is this going to be ongoing, as in you are going to octinue to add photos throughout her life? If so, I would call it, “My life in pictures by [her name]” Even though she’s not the one making the book, she’s the one starring in it, so it really is “by” her.

Hallmark or wall mart. Anything u think is cute is good enough to write about. Like my youngest was about 2 weeks old we were watching the magic toll booth. The boy kept going back and forth cos he couldn’t believe he was turned from boy to cartoon and back again (like james and the giant peach) anyway each way through the tool booth kept saying bye. After about the fifth my daughter clear as a bell said bye, couldn’t get her to repeat it but wrote it in her book as a cute memory. Didn’t start talking til she was about 3 mos old for the rest of it. Anyway her book is soft (cardboard) cover i laminated it so with the lamination paper and and the book think i spent about 5 $ total add doctor visits, height and weight each visit. Starts teething, first tooth, anything that is of interest to u.

I want to make a professional custom baby book for my son?
I bought a baby book for him but then I decided I wanted to make one custom like a scrapbook only in baby book form. I really do not like my handwriting and I plan on scanning in the documents I want in his book (like his pictures and his birth certificate). Then having the company print it up (hardback), Does anybody know of a GOOD PROFESSIONAL website to make this. I need cute baby layouts, etc. Any ideas?

Heritage makers… They have the most options/layouts/paper backgrounds available. I did one for my daughter and i am 100% happy with how it came out. Easy to use and do- you can do a book, picture swatches, 12×12, 5×5 or any other size you want!!!

Richard asks…
baby book……………?
im making a scrapbook baby book for my daughter/son to be but im not sure what other things to put in, so far i have…
the name, date, time & weight will go at the front
mine & my boyfriends names next saying ‘proud parents’ at the top
our babies development (scan pictures & my bump)
then will be when our baby enters our world..
what else can i add to it?
Build a Baby Book Staff Replied:
I bought a baby book and here are some of the things in it:
In the front there is an envelope and in the envelope is a card I wrote to my son telling him how much I love him, etc.
There is a page titled, “All about Mommy” and another titled “All about Daddy.” JUst write a paragraph or so about each of you.
There is a page for Special Holidays and celebrations such as first Christmas or Babptism.
There is also a page of items like “bread” and “movies” and you put the price of each next to the item so your child can look back and know what things cost the year he was born.
There is a page for who was the president when baby was born, what music was popular, clothing trends, etc.
The last page is for baby’s first birthday.
Have fun creating the book!

Help With Personalized Baby Books

Betty asks…

When I was a baby I was brought a leather book with my name in printed, the book had sections for birth details, family tree, it had a news paper of the day I was born, a top ten chart, a record, a shopping list etc. Does any body know where I can get anything like this?

Daniel asks…
Which pregnancy announcement do you like best to announce a third baby?
With our first we gave our Mom’s grandma memory books for Christmas. With our second I made up fortune cookies with sayings:A special delivery will arrive soon and Your family will expand by at least two feet and both fortunes had the due date as the lucky #’s. We served them after eating a bunch of Chinese food.
For a third baby I’m not sure which way to announce a pregnancy. Either personalized M&M’s put in a cleaned out baby food jar with pretty ribbon or put the personalized M&M’s onto a cake or some kind of goody. Or else sending a picture over the phone of the first ultrasound picture at 8/9 weeks to everyone at a big gathering. Or else at a family gathering we could tell our oldest who will be 4 and is super excited to get another baby and then he would tell EVERYONE that he is getting another baby.
Which way do you think would be more memorable?
Build a Baby Book Staff Replied:
Bake cookies or a cake that say I am going to be a big brother and all the info and let your son pass them out at your gathering…that way your son is still involved.

Helen asks…
Does anyone know about this from shutterfly.com!?
I made a personalized mini brag book that is 4×4 and I want to order the wallet with it. But is the wallet just a photo wallet that holds the book or is it a reall wallet also!? Here is the link:
http://www.shutterfly.com/shop/product_c18104-p3301/Baby_Photo_Books_4x4_Baby_Brag_Book
It doesnt really specify…
I’m making it for my fiance for Valentines Day, I put all of our ultra sound pictures in it for him. Because I am pregnant with our first and he was keeping one of the pics in his wallet to show everyone but it got ruined. Also his wallet just fell apart so he needs a new one. And I thought this was perfect! Because when I put all the pictures in it and stuff and clicked on the preview button it shows the photo book in the wallet, and a little flap covering one side and the other side is open for somthing…so it might be a regular wallet that holds the book. but im not sure..did you ever buy this??? and is you were a man would you like this..??
Build a Baby Book Staff Replied:
Hi. I can’t tell about whether that is a real wallet or not, but I can offer an opinion about wallets. I like to carry my wallet in my pocket, and a 4×4 wallet wouldn’t fit, so if it were me, I couldn’t really use it.
How does your guy usually carry his wallet? Does he keep it in his pocket, his hand, briefcase, bag, or what? Whatever the case, make sure the new wallet fits with that. Don’t expect him to change his routine if the new wallet wouldn’t work with his current system.
By the way, best of luck with everything!

Help With Keepsake Baby Book

Mark asks…
Where can I find a nice baby book online?
I’m not sure if it is called a baby book, because when I look it up online I am just finding books about babies. I am looking for a journal type of book to put photos and the babies weight and milestones as a keepsake.

Jenny asks…
Im looking for ideas for a baby shower keepsake?
I don’t want the standard- write a note of well wishing in a book… I want new creative ideas.
I want the soon to be mother to have this as a present. Also for the baby- So she will know the love she already had before she got here…
Sorry that was cheezy- but you get the point
Build a Baby Book Staff Replied:
I know….when i start having kids i do not want the standard(boring) book…..i like books but that just doesnt seem any fun …or celebrating………take a baby quilt(made out of muslim or cotton) and make a quilt out of it by having the guest sign one square each…sew the peices toghether with everyones help…..or have a little rocking chair(the childs size for when the baby gets old enough to sit on a rocking chair) and have every one sign it with a blessing or a good wish for the baby…..or make a poser for the baby….then after its signed you can put the picture of the baby in the middle(leave space in middle for picture to get placed) …get bibs (just plain bibs with out anything written on them and get some fabric paint(the type that stays bumped up for the baby to feel) and have everyone write what ever they want or decorate it how ever they want…..(then you’ll have enough bibs and you will have a memory

Ruth asks…
I’m filling out a baby book for my little girl. What other keepsakes would be nice?
I’m 38 weeks pregnant with a girl and I’d like to put together a little box of keepsakes for my baby. I’d like to enclose a newspaper on the day that she was born, and maybe a Time magazine. I obviously want to save her first haircut “lock” later on. I don’t have a whole lot of money to spend. I thought of putting in the outfit she wore home from the hospital. Can you think of any other nice little keepsakes that would show her what 2009 was like, or that would just be nice for her to have? I might make a “time capsule” for her to open later.
Thanks!

Help With Digital Baby Book

David asks…
How do you protect your digital photos from loss? How do you back them up?
I know this has been asked before, but many of the answers are a few years old. I have thousands of photos on my computer, and many are not anywhere else! I bought a Western Digital My book external hard drive and backed up my system this weekend, but I saw reviews that said external drives can crash in as little as 3 months! (and it seems all of the brands can have these problems). I’ve started uploading photos to a pay site (smugmug) in order to have a second backup as well. What do you do to backup all your precious baby and child photos? One external drive? Two? CD or DVD’s? Put a hard drive in a safety deposit box to prevent loss from fire? I’m so caught up by worrying about what will work, that I haven’t done anything really! Thanks for your input!
Build a Baby Book Staff Replied:
I back up everything on 2 or 3 external drives, and then do additional backups on printed photos.
If it’s basic stuff, then it’s saved to two 1.5TB drives. One drive is marked Archive, write once, don’t use after that. The other drive is Backup, the working drive to look at images. For important stuff, it also goes onto a 500GB pocket drive.
Whenever I print a photo, that one gets another set of backups, one on the computer it was printed from, and another one on a 16GB flash drive.
Save the filled external hard drives in separate locations, one at home, one in a storage locker, work or external safe. The drives that are currently being used are saved at home, and the other goes in the car with me whenever I go out.

William asks…
hospital bag, am I missing anything?
?
so I am 30 weeks pregnant and because I always go into labor around 36 weeks I’m going to be packing my bag this weekend. I made a list of things I’m going to need wondering if I’m missing anything, don’t wanna be at the hospital going oh crap I forgot ___
For me:
Robe
Slippers
old undies x 4
going home clothes
tooth brush
hair brush
labor gown
digital camera
deodorant
socks
baby book
for the baby:
2-3 onesies
going home clothes
baby blanket
pacifiers
socks
receiving blankets
diapers/wipes
(no feeding equipment necessary because I’m B/F)
did I miss anything?
yeah I had my son 2 weeks early and my daughter 3 weeks early, I always tend to forget something though
Build a Baby Book Staff Replied:
It sounds like you are good! Actually maybe too many things for your new arrival because the hospital supplies most the baby items. The one thing I would recommend is make-up. I know sounds crazy when your delivering a baby but,… Most the hospitals by me now have professional photographers. For my last birth I bought the most beautiful pictures! No more pictures of baby swaddled & screaming in the plastic clear tub. As a matter of fact my profile picture is one of them!
